Radio display

The Radio display can be used as a multi-functional information and control center. Enable or disable the Radio display with the option Radio display in the Radio menu.

The Radio display normally shows the control sticks movement of the connected transmitter. During playback of recorded flights the animation of the sticks refers to the shown flight. When observing a certain user of a flight convention, the sticks movement of that pilot will be displayed (also refer to Observe user).

The presentation of the control sticks can either be according to MODE1, MODE2, MODE3 or MODE4 and is independent from the control mode given by the adjusted channel assignment. Thus, a mode change in the Radio display does only affect the presentation in the Radio display but not the control mode used for controlling the simulated models. Click on the arrows next to the MODE indicator to set the desired display control mode.

In the bottom section of the display the tabs CHANNELS, CONTROL HISTORY and TELEMETRY can be selected. The CONTROL HISTORY tab shows the time curves of the 4 control functions in a graphical presentation, which is particularly helpful in the analysis of complex and dynamic flight maneuvers. The scale of the (vertical) time axis can be adjusted between 0.1 and 1.0 seconds per division.

For convenient control of the simulation state there are some buttons located in the Radio display between and above the stick units:

Click the disk icon to save either the latest flight or the flight of an observed user in flight convention mode (see also Save flight).

Click the REC button in order to start a simulation or to resume a paused simulation at the current position.

Click the STOP button in order to stop the running simulation, to stop the playback of a recorded or paused flight, or to stop a paused user observation.

For detailed investigation of particularly interesting flight maneuvers you may click the PAUSE button to pause the running simulation or to pause a user observation. With paused simulation or observation the simulation state switches to playback mode in which the particular flight can be rewinded, fast-forwarded, replayed and saved for future analysis.

In playback mode click the PLAY-, PAUSE-, FAST-REWIND- and FAST-FORWARD-button to control the playback speed as desired. You may also click on PLAYBACK and drag the mouse left and right to adjust the playback speed between -10 and +10 steplessly. To skip directly to a certain position of the flight, click on the appropriate loacation of the timeline or drag the timeline's position marker with the mouse accordingly. With paused user observation you may return to live observation by clicking on the time indication right of the timeline.

In playback mode, you can also click the AUTO-REPEAT icon in order to automatically restart playback from the beginning, once the end position has been reached. This is very helpful when training with the Stickmover device, for example.

A running simulation can also be paused and resumed by pressing the <PAUSE>-key.

You may position and size the Radio display like any ordinary window by dragging with the mouse:

The Radio display is equipped with a backlight, whose color and brightness can be adjusted together with some other properties in the related context menu:

To open the context menu click on the Radio display with the right mouse button.
